Welcoming, relaxing and beautiful.”

30 October2011

We have been lucky enough to stay at the astra a few times and without question it has been the most peaceful and chilled out break we've had. The owners and staff have become friends and we are always greeted with great respect and nothing is too much trouble. A gem of a place to which we will always return.

“Just perfect!”

3 October 2011

We stayed at Astra Village for the Whitsun holidays at the end of May and spent a wonderful week in beautiful sunshine. We wanted peace and quiet, with good food and time to relax and we had just that.
We were a little apprehensive before our stay with regards to the closeness of the airport but having visited I must agree with my fellow reviewers that if anything the planes were amazing to watch and in no way interrupted the tranquillity of the hotel. The benefits of being so close to the airport are many, more time at the hotel and less time in a warm bus!
Myself, my husband and our 12 year old daughter are all vegetarian and we ate like kings at the hotel. Prices were very reasonable and there was always choice particularly at lunch. We sat on the shaded terrace, cool breezes from the beach and ice cold beers served by delightful staff, particularly Caroline, what a lovely and interesting woman. Evening meals were just as delicious, taken by the pool, amazing views of the sunset and very good wine! Breakfast is a buffet of treats, from fruits, cheeses, olives, eggs, pastries the list goes on and on.....
The rooms were modern and really spotless and had everything you would need to prepare snacks and a proper big fridge. To be honest by the time you bought the bits needed for lunch it was just the same to eat at the bar, and soooo much nicer.
We were 5 people eating lunch everyday and 5 evening meals and numerous ice cold beers, chocolate shakes and coffees delivered to our sun beds and we paid around 500 euros at the end of our stay.(Breakfast was included.) Amazing!
The hotel is stunning, add on the lush pool, comfy sofas and amazing staff and you would not find a more beautiful place to spend a holiday. We will be returning!

Tip: All of the rooms are lovely, I would be happy in any of them.

“Fantastic”

23 September 2011

We stayed at the astra village with our children of 3 and 6. This is our second visit to the astra and we loved it as much as the first. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff friendly, the hotel peaceful and the location perfect.

The food in the restaurant is excellent and always well presented.

We have stayed in lots of hotels, but this hotel tops the lot. Most of all the peace and quiet you get on this holiday will make you feel relaxed and recharged.

“Best holiday ever! Absolutely faultless!”

25 August 2011

We were recommended this place by family, so knew we were not going to be disappointed but it completely surpassed our expectations. Everything was perfect and we couldn't find any faults at all. If you want a holiday to just relax then this is the perfect place. The beach which is a 5 min walk away is gorgeous, the pool area in the village was quiet and tranquil and the food and service of both the restaurant and pool bar was top quality.

All the staff were really friendly and always helpful. Tasos the barman was a lovely guy and really hardworking along with Caroline who did the day shift.

We are not the sort of couple to go back to the same place twice but this holiday has changed that and we are definitely going to go back next year, but this time for 2 weeks rather than just 1 as we didn’t want the holiday to end!

“This place is heaven on earth”

10 July 2011

This was our second time at Astra Village and it won't be our last. We were concerned about going back as our first visit in 2008 was amazing. It didn't disappoint. They haven't changed much about the place - just a few extra sun lounges round the pool.

The staff as before were a pleasure to be around. Tasos and Costas who worked behind the bar and in the restaurant were so friendly and fun. They asked our names on the first night and remembered them for the entire week when the place was full. Everyone else was so friendly and couldn't be more helpful.

We will be going back as it's so relaxing. It's a peaceful oasis of a place. The rooms are well presented, always clean as is the rest of the village. The place is immaculate. this place might only be 3 star (hotel rating) but believe me when i say I've stayed at many a four or five star hotel and none of them come close to the service and cleanliness that Astra Village has got. Talking to others around the pool or bar you soon find out that this is a place that people have been coming to for years repeatedly. It's easy to see why.

just wonderful... my only fear which is shared on this forum by other reviewers is that it could become too popular, but given that there are only so many rooms in the village they can only take so many people.

“Dit is topklasse zonder te veel bemoeing, een absolute vryheid in een schitterend resort”

5 June 2011

We had a wonderful stay for a fortnight. Great staff, so hearty so friendly and helpful. Our aptm was in a very nice location there was nothing to complain. Breakfast was marvellous and so was the restaurant. The island is very beautiful in my opinion more than Zakynthos. The Greek people are very Honest and helpful all over this wonderful isle, this was one of our best vacations ever and we will come back soon. Willy and Blanche Antwerp Belgium

“Great hotel, great food, friendly people, great time!”

19 September 2010

Me and my sister stayed for a week, we had big expectations after reading so many good reviews. We have no regrets at all! The room was great, the food in the restaurant at night was great. Effi, the receptionist, was very friendly; she booked a great car for us.
The apartments have great flowers around them, everything was just great! If you think you have to drive very far to find an ATM; there is one at the airport which is just a 5m drive. The airplanes are not annoying, it's fun to see them, especially when you are on the beach. It's a 5m walk to the beach. The restaurant with the Greek windmill has great food. There is a wi-fi connection when you sit near the reception, I liked that.
We have visited Skala, Poros, Antisamos beach (beautiful), Avithos beach, Myrtos beach, Argostoli, Lixouri, Xi beach, Petani beach, Assos (beautiful and cute little place), Melissani lake and Sami, all in one week! We didn't have the time to go to Fiskardo unfortunately.
I would definitively go back to this beautiful island and would definitively stay again at Astra Village.
